The fog in this session was so Cleveland; it reminded me of how this city has grit, attitude and a mind of its own. We are often at mercy of the lake with the winds, rains, blizzards (and in this case fog) that it brings to the city, just like as parents we are at the mercy of our toddlers. The H family had pretty specific requests when they reached out to me about updating a wall gallery in their home, but of course, as is the way with toddlers, they have a mind of their own. On my way to the lake for their session I saw the fog and knew it wasn't what they originally had in mind for a glowy, golden hour session. I was thrilled to have this family in front of my camera for a beautiful family mini session a few weeks ago. These kiddos took a minute to warm up, but we were having a crabapple tossing contest before our time was up. This session is a prime example of why when your photographer strongly suggests to schedule your session around golden hour, you do so (wink wink:). I know sometimes it can be hard with kid's schedules to make golden hour work, but I have never had anyone tell me it isn't worth it and I make it work for my own family as well when we do photos. There is just something magical that happens with golden hour and a camera.
Two of my favorite subjects grace the blog again. This is the 10 month session for my nephew, Zeke. Throughout his mother's pregnancy and first year we are documenting 6 total sessions and at Zeke's first birthday we will make a "Baby's First Year" album that will contain images from the maternity session, newborn session, 3 month session, 6 month session, 9 month session (or in this case 10 months) and one year session. I can't believe how quickly this little guy is growing and I can't wait to see the progession of the finished album.
I had the great pleaseure of shooting my very favorite type of session recently- a newborn session. Little Hudson was the perfect age for a newborn session; he was just a mere 8 days old! So precious and so tiny. He was so good for his session and didn't barely fuss a bit! Big brother Grant and Mom and Day jumped in for a few photos. Enjoy those tiny ears, hands and feet:)
